21 June 2016 - The Director (Honorary) & UNESCO Chair holder Professor Priyankar Upadhyaya participated in UNESCO hosted a path-breaking Consultative Meeting on the contribution of the UN system to the promotion of peace. The meeting was attended by heads of 28 United Nations entities (programmes, funds, specialized agencies and bodies), who discussed the advancement of the global peace agenda and took stock of the present situation – and the future of the agenda in the new millennium.
09 May 2016- Dr. Donald Roland, a peace activist and Senior Consultant at United States Institute for Peace New York led an interactive dialogue on Youth’s and Peacebuilding.

22 February 2014 – A discussion organized at Centre for Peace and Development on “Gender, Empowerment and Conflict in India” led by Prof. Ashild Kolas, Research Professor, Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO), Norway.
26 April 2013- A discussion was organized on Peace and Conflict in Northeast. The resource person was Mr. Bishwajit Mohapatra from North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. Various insurgency issues, causes of unrest in Meghalaya and various peace initiatives by Government and civil society were discussed. He stressed on better communication and quickly resolving the conflicting issues along with social auditing.
02 April 2013- A discussion was organized at Centre for on Conflict Handling Mechanism in Glocal Perspective. The resource person was Prof. Ashild Kolas, Research Professor, Peace Research Institute, Oslo (PRIO), Norway. She stated many examples where peacefully the conflicts were managed by using creativity and citizen diplomacy. She said that Norway has taken major steps towards peacebuilding through various international laws and agreements for sustainable peace development.
11 March 2013- Prof. Priyankar Upadhyaya, Director Centre for Peace and Development, discussed on the issue of Culture of Governance and Conflict Resolution at Regional and International level. He emphasized the equitable role of local as well as national leaders to participate in the process of peacebuilding. He also stressed on moral development of the society for a prosperous future.
26 February 2013- A discussion at the centre Prof. Priyankar Upadhyaya discussed on the topic Communal Peace in Multicultural Banaras. He said that since ancient times, Banaras has enjoyed uninterrupted communal peace. This distinctive feature of Banaras has been the proactive role of religious leaders in nurturing the tradition of inter- community dialogue and practical intervention to preempt the outbreak of communal frenzy during the turbulent times. He also added that the metaphors of composite identity such as Ganga- Jamuni Tahzeeb and Tana – Bana effectively motivated the intrinsic communal peace in the city and created common grounds for Hindus and Muslims to think in a certain way about their common destiny.
27 January 2013- A discussion was organised by CPD on Peace Education. Principals from different schools shared their thoughts, ideas and innovative methods practiced in school to bring religious tolerance and acceptance for all religions. Mrs Anita Dey, Principal W. H. Smith Memorial School, Varanasi, shared some interesting experiences and also told various creative methods she applied to bring communal harmony among the students of her school.
